Project Description

Rebecca Ojerinde is a Nigerian of Yoruba Origin. She migrated to The United States of America with her family of 5 in the year 2005. She started her educational journey in the states by attended Clinton Middle School between 2005 and 2008 after, which she continued at Forte Hayes High School and graduated in the year 2011. Upon high school graduation in 2011, she proceeded to Miami University, Oxford Ohio to study Psychology with a Pre-medicine co-major and a neuroscience minor with the goal to graduate and attend medical school. Rebecca in her high school period participated in several community programs including No Alcohol and Drug Campaign which made her very prominent in all “Youth to Youth” programs; a non-profit organization sponsored programs. She was also involved in a 4 year program to assist in the development of a historically neighborhood downtown Columbus. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. since her middle school age
Rebecca is proud to serve the community and continued to be involved in the improving and encouraging the community. In college, she participated in the African Society Club and was involved in organizing major programs that celebrates and introduces the African culture to Miami University. She is a current member of the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity which is a service fraternity that volunteers in the Oxford and Cincinnati area for at least 30 hours per semester. She also volunteers at McCullough Hyde hospital every week for the past two years and just got accepted for a volunteer job at Christ hospital in Cincinnati. She was also a big sister through Big Brother Big Sister Program in the Oxford Ohio area. After finishing her capstone in Medical Decision making, she realized that she would like to promote education in medical health shared decisions to make sure parents and children understand the implication of the actions they take make. As a future Doctor, she plans to make sure she provides and communicate necessary information that allows patients to make make the best decision based on their beliefs, morals and knowledge.
As part of her post experience after graduating college this May 2016, Rebecca is hoping to participate in a one life time experience tour to Europe in the year 2016 where she would be learning about other cultures for a 33 days and then volunteering at a hospital in Barcelona for the 53 days.
