Mr. Ayotunde Adelusola
PRESIDENT YORUBA CLUB 21 (2011-2015)
Ayo Adelusola was born in Lagos, Nigeria, third born of six children to Samuel and Elizabeth Adelusola. He attended St. David’s Anglican School, Lafiaji, Lagos and was also a member of the choir at St. David’s Anglican Church. He attended Holy Cross Preparatory School in Lagos before going to Olivet Baptist High School in Oyo under the leadership of Rev. John Bamidele Preston Lafinhan.
After High School, Ayo worked as a banker at Union Bank of Nigeria (formerly Barclays Bank of Nigeria) for three years before deciding to pursue a higher education in the United States of America.
Ayo moved to the United States in 1979. He graduated from the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, Missouri in 1985 with a B.S. in Economics, minor in Marketing.
While living in Kansas City, he met and married his lovely wife Edna. After graduation, they decided to move to Ohio. In May 1989, they joined Centenary United Methodist Church in Columbus. Over the years, Ayo served the church in various capacities: Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Bus Ministry, Feed Program, Activities Coordinator for the Gospel choir, Fund Raiser Organizer, Assistant President United Methodist Men, Coordinator of Video Communications Ministry, Producer and Director of “Visions to Victory” Documentary Series, a founding member of the Boys Scout Troop 930, Clergy Intern, Lay Speaker and Chairman of Finance Committee.
Ayo mentored young boys in the SIMBA Program from 1995 to 1999. Ayo delivered meals to the homebound in the community through the meals on wheels program.
He was licensed by the State of Ohio to sell Life, Accident and Health Insurance. He also held license to sell Property and Casualty Insurance in the State of Ohio. Ayo engaged in Insurance sales on multiple levels as Sales Representative, Government Marketing representative, Public Account Representative and Public Marketing Representative.
In 1994 Ayo answered the call to ministry and pursued a higher education at United Theological Seminary(UTS) in Dayton, Ohio. He graduated in 2001 with a dual degree from UTS; Master of Divinity (M.Div.) and Master of Arts in Religious Communication (MARC). While at UTS, Ayo was President of the National Alliance of Pan African Seminarians (NAPAS) from 1999-2000. He was also the recipient of Ruth Pippert Core Memorial Award for Peace, Unity, Enrichment in the Arts and Ecumenics in the year 2000. He coached soccer in Trotwood and participated in several community activities and organizations that uplifted those in need. He produced and directed Public Relations Promotional Video for Wesley Community Center in Dayton, Ohio in1997 and 2000. Ayo was Pastor of Media and Outreach at Cross Point UMC, a new church start in Trotwood, Ohio from 1998 to 2001.
Ayo is always willing to function in the capacity where the need is greatest. His self confidence comes from a deep faith in God. The idiosyncratic feeling Ayo brings to the table usually results in synergy, fellowship, dedication, willingness to serve, commitment, excitement, and overall spiritual transformation of those who work with him.
Ayo is interested in jogging, tennis, playing drums, music, video editing, watching documentaries, enjoys family time and quiet time. He is currently an owner operator of Tim Hortons Restaurants in Columbus. Ayo has been involved with Tim Hortons since 2003. He is also the current president of Yoruba Club 21 in Columbus, Ohio
Ayo is ever grateful that God has blessed him with a supportive, lovely and loving wife (Edna) and a wonderful daughter (Titilayo).
Ayo has a vision of ‘universal love’ and he actively seeks to make our world a better place by touching one life at a time !
