Dr. Babatunde Olufade

FOUNDER & FOUNDING PRESIDENT (2003-2007)

Born on August 16, 1950 at Abeokuta, Ogun State of Nigeria, Tunde attended LOYOLA COLLEGE, Ibadan between 1964 and 1970 where he obtained his West African School Certificate (WAEC) in 1968 and the Higher School Certificate (HSC) and the Advanced Level General Certificate of Education (GCE A/L) in 1970 with distinctions. He taught briefly in 1971 at Rev. Kuti Memorial Grammar School, Abeokuta where he prepared the final year students for their Physics and Chemistry West African Examination Certificate (WAEC) examinations. He later enrolled that year at the University of Ibadan Medical School where he trained for his Medical education. He graduated with the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. He later did his Residency training in Surgery, Pediatrics, Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Dr. Tunde Olufade practiced his Medical profession at the State Specialist Hospital, Ijebu-Ode from where he resigned as a Senior Medical Officer to set his private Medical Practice-Alafia Hospitals at Ijebu-Ode and Abeokuta. He was the Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer of these Medical establishments until he travelled with his family to the United States in May 1996. He was the Medical Adviser and a member of the Ijebu-Ode Anglican Diocesan Board from 1992 to 1996. He founded the Fountain of Hope (FOH) Society (an International Charity-Oriented Christian Society) at his home Church – St. Andrews Anglican Church, Ibara, Abeokuta and was the founding President until he relocated to the US in 1996. He donated an Out-Patient Clinic to the Church in 1995.

Dr. Tunde Olufade loved and worked relentlessly for his home community. He awarded many Secondary School Scholarships to many intelligent but indigent students. He was awarded many Chieftaincy titles by first Class Yoruba Obas in Abeokuta and Ijebu-Ode.

In the US, Dr. Olufade taught Anatomy and Mathematics at the Essex County Community College, Newark, New Jersey between 1996 and 2000. He trained as a Computer Scientist and became Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Cisco Certified Network Associate and a Cisco Certified Network Professional. He joined AT&T as a Network Engineer in May, 2000 and was later employed as a Senior Computer Systems Engineer at Insight Enterprises, Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Olufade lives a productive life as a frontline Church activist and philanthropist working in the Lord’s Vineyard as a Minister of God in the Redeemed Christian Church of God in the US. He loves to read the Bible and other Scriptures, pray, study, worship, fellowship—and lead out of the overflow of his walk with God. He cherishes the fear of God, being a person of high integrity, being trustworthy and honest. He would love to be remembered for having come in to the world and meeting challenges and not shying away from them.

On the third Saturday of August 2003, Dr. Olufade invited a few friends (8 TO BE EXACT) to The Home Town Restaurant on Morse Road, Columbus, Ohio to a meeting with the intention of forming a social Club in Columbus. Ohio that will unite professionals of YORUBA descent who are serious minded, well intentioned, with integrity, self-worth and self-respect. The Club was officially launched on Saturday, August 18, 2007 with ADEWALE AYUBA & HIS BONSUE BAND on the bandstand. The Club membership has since grown to TWENTY-ONE. The main objective is that the Club will be a social Club with intentions to include comrade and networking among members’ families. The mission of the Club include to cherish, uphold and protect the honor, cultural heritage and the traditions of the Yoruba race through the mutual participation and cooperation of its members, and the awareness and education of the public. Our aim includes promoting togetherness and the social and economic welfare and interests of the Yoruba race through implementation of projects and cooperation with other organization. We plan to organize educational events that are relevant to the promotion of the Yoruba culture and traditions, to undertake specific projects beneficial to the Yoruba in the Columbus, Ohio, USA and Nigeria, aimed at enhancing our development, opportunities and interests, to support the development of educational opportunities wherever there are Yoruba, to encourage and nurture our children and youth to imbibe the Yoruba culture, honor our tradition and to work with other organizations within and outside the United States that share similar objectives and goals, and to promote the interests and progress of Yoruba land. Dr. Tunde Olufade is the founder and founding President (2003-2007) of this great Yoruba Club.

Dr. Tunde Olufade is happily married to Pastor Rachel Olufade and is blessed with many children and grandchildren.
